How long will my Caribbean Tan last?

A Caribbean Tan can last up to 14 days if maintained correctly. Use Caribbean tan exfoliator on the entire body to remove dead skin. The body exfoliates itself naturally every few days. If you do not exfoliate and apply Caribbean tan to dry skin, the dry skin will absorb the tan and exfoliate naturally, leaving you with a patchy result.

You must apply body butter at least every two days to prevent your skin from becoming dry and exfoliating.

I have fair skin, how do I get a dark tan?

If you have fair skin (A) and want to be darker after you have applied your Caribbean Tan, you can. All you need to do is layer your tan. After 24 hours, apply another layer of Caribbean Tan and you will go a shade darker. Never buy a B or C product if you are an A type skin. You will just go orange.

Should I use an exfoliator every night once I have applied Caribbean Tan?

No. Definitely not. The tan will come off very quickly. The exfoliator must be used before you apply self tan. You must exfoliate your entire body to remove all the dry skin. The cause of patchiness is dry skin. Dry skin absorbs the self tan and spots of skin will go darker than your new skin. That dry skin then starts to exfoliate from your body and you are left with patches of self tan. If you get rid of all the dry skin first and apply correctly, then the tan will be even.

Should I apply Caribbean Tan to the tops of my hands and feet?

The best way to apply to ankles, feet, hands is to pretend that here is a ring around your legs at the bottom by your ankles and by your wrist. Apply your tan up to the 'ring' on your wrist and the 'ring' at your ankles. Once you have finished applying the tan to your body then just blend in the tan from that imaginary ring area onto your feet and hands. Don't apply tan directly onto your hands and feet.

How often should I apply Caribbean Tan?

The application of self tan depends on the tan you want to achieve. Normally you will exfoliate your skin and then apply the tan (in the correct colour for your skin). Once you have the tan after 8 hours and you would like to be darker still, you can then apply the tan again the next day and you will go a shade darker.

To keep your tan we recommend applying the tan once a week. That way the tan won't fade and you will always be brown. If the tan has been applied correctly and your have exfoliated your skin and keep moisturising the tan will last up to 14 days.

Can I use Caribbean Tan on my face?

All the products are perfectly safe to use on your face (clean, exfoliated skin) but use small quantities and even out into neck, decolette, into ears and behind neck.

If you are fair, stay with an 'A' product, you can always apply another layer of 'A' the following day, which then layers your tan into a niche golden colour and makes it last longer. You should also try the tinted moisturizer we do with our new sun protection range, it contains a sun protection, hydrating facial moisturizer with a tint to give your face that golden glow.

Why did my tan streak?

Streaking could be a result of dry skin areas. Always exfoliate before application. Dry skin absorbs product faster and shows a different colour than the areas of softer exfoliated skin and in so doing give the perception of two different colours which looks streaky.

Why you would have dry skin in such a specific pattern could be a number of reasons
1. Application of moisturizers over long periods on up and down streaking motions, leaving some areas more moisturized than others.
2. Shaving - a slight tilt of the blade in some areas removes skin in one long 'panel' but not in others.
3. Waxing that removes skin in some areas where hair is removed against the follicle growth but along in other areas and in so doing the wax strips removing 2/3 layers of skin in some areas but not others.
Streaking could also occur if you have applied the product incorrectly. Always apply the Spritzer in circular motions and not up and down.

Can I swim for long periods with Caribbean tan without it rubbing off through contact with others, drying myself with my towel etc.?

Swimming for long periods will definitely fade the tan quicker than if you did not swim. Rubbing your skin dry vigorously with a towel will also shorten the life span of your tan. We recommend taking short showers to extend the life of your tan.
